Physical Therapy Assistant


Description Summary:

  • The physical therapy assistant provides rehabilitative care for patients needing assistance and training with ambulation, transferring, gait training, and home exercise programs under the supervision of the physical therapist.
  • A vital member of the interdisciplinary team including RN, LPN, PT, OT, COTA, SLP, MSW and home health aides.
  • Supervised by the PT
  • This position reports to the clinical coordinator.

 

Education and Experience Summary:

  • Graduate from a 2 year college level program approved by the APTA or 2 years of experience as a PTA and satisfactory grade on exam sponsored by the US Public Health Service
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a PTA required
  • 1 year home health experience preferred
  • Geriatric and orthopedic experience preferred
  • Must have CPR Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance with reliable transportation to travel to patient homes per patient schedule and agency needs.
