Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant


Description Summary:

  • The occupational therapy assistant (COTA) provides rehabilitative care for patients needing assistance and training in activities of daily living under supervision of the occupational therapist.
  • The COTA is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team including RN, LPN, PT, PTA, OT, SLP, MSW and home health aides.
  • The COTA is supervised by the OT and reports to the clinical coordinator.

 

Education and Experience Summary:

  • Meets requirements for certification as an occupational therapy assistant established by the American Occupational Therapy Association or minimum 2 years experience as an occupational therapy assistant and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency exam sponsored by the US Public Health Service
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a COTA required
  • Home health experience preferred
  • Must have CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance with reliable transportation to travel to patient homes per patient schedule and agency needs.
